 About this guide …. Kind regards ! As you all know, the ‘School of Excellence’ program has been implemented in the primary education sector in the state. In ‘Nipun Bharat’ (NIPUN BHARAT – National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) special emphasis has been placed on the basic skills of students like reading, writing and numeracy. By now you all must be familiar with projects like ‘Nipun Bharat’ and ‘School of Excellence’. The ‘School of Excellence’ project is currently being implemented in some schools of the district. When this initiative is to be implemented in other schools from time to time, it is natural to expect that the schools of Mehsana district will excel under this project. To fulfill this expectation we all need to work with full dedication and commitment and we are moving forward in that way. Let us be leaders in this project as well and set a target so that all the expectations can be fulfilled. It is my pleasure to bring to you ‘FLN Teacher’s Guide’ specially designed to achieve this goal. This guide has been prepared keeping in mind the methodology and learning outcomes in Gujarati and Mathematics to meet the general expectations of reading, writing, arithmetic. In which the guiding steps and steps including the contents for how to enrich the existing condition by knowing the current condition of the students in reading, writing, calculation have been made available in it. This entire literature has been prepared by expert and enthusiastic teachers of Gujarati and Mathematics subject of Mehsana district. I am happy to say that these teachers have done all this work outside of school hours and that too by donating their time as honorary service without any financial or other expectation. Not only this, in future also these teachers are going to continue to provide guidance under FLN wherever and whenever needed. Shri Hareshbhai Chowdhury in Gujarati subject and Shri Suchitbhai Prajapati in Math subject from the state level have been providing continuous guidance in this literature production. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for that. This ‘FLN Teacher’s Guide’ prepared by Karmath teachers of the district has been reviewed by GCERT. After that review, this guide has been brought to you after necessary revisions. My request to all of you teacher friends is to play a diligent role in making your school look as expected by making proper use of this guide for the benefit of your students. I am confident that the objectives for which these guidelines have been prepared will be adequately served. About literature on Gujarati subject …. The material has been developed to help the teacher to teach basic reading-writing skills to the students of class 2 to 8. The diagnostic test and ladder should be obtained from the QR Code of page-1. The rest of the QR Code is only for the teachers to understand the literature. Scan the QR Code Click | By touching you can easily watch Gujarati content or videos. • Take the diagnostic test given in class 2 to 8.

Based on the diagnostic test, it will be determined which student has difficulty recognizing or writing which letters or numbers. • Emphasizing the letters or quantities that the student has difficulty with and doing remedial work using the step materials in the steps that contain those letters or quantities. For this use slate, notebook etc. Each student involved in remedial work should get three to five minutes of individual reading time. • Every student should have daily opportunities for dictation and independent writing. Each student’s dictation and independent writing should be checked by the teacher on the same day. 0 In the literature steps-1 to 10 are given the remedial action material of prescribed alphabets and doses. To provide remedial teaching of step content to each student according to his individual needs. * In step-11, special material for comprehension and independent writing is given. About mathematics literature … 0 This mathematics literature has been produced with the purpose of helping teachers for intensive remedial work based on the diagnosis of calculation skills of students of grades 2 to 8. • Mathematics literature in this module is prepared keeping in mind the remedial work of students of class 2 to 8. • This module covers numeracy, four mathematical operations and units of measurement (money, length, weight, volume, time). • Unit concepts are broken down into smaller steps. There are total 63 such steps. • Explanation of concepts is given as per requirement in each units. This literature has been prepared in such a way that a student studying in any standard can achieve the concepts related to FLN up to his previous standard. Like ‘For Class-5 or above’ – covers all concepts related to FLN from Class-1 to 4. By using the QR Code placed on page number 41, we will be able to get the diagnostic tests and evaluation sheet of class – 2 to 8. A sample example is provided in each step. If necessary, in the same way, students should be given more example puzzles. • Numeracy, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Money, Length, Weight, Volume, Time are given in developmental order in this manual. So starting his remedial work from where the student stops. • Make the expressions given in each step to the students in slate, notebook or workbook as needed. • You can change the examples of expressions given in the mathematics literature. Using examples, TLM and other educational tools as per local situation. • If necessary, make the students other games or activities that you know other than the games or activities placed in this literature. Corresponding video link in each unit QR Code is provided. Use it for more understanding and knowledge. By clicking and touching the QR Code, you can easily view math content or videos. • All the figures in this literature prepared on the subject of mathematics are written in Gujarati. To use English numerals for students of class-6 to 8. Under intensive remedial work, efforts should be made to ensure that maximum number of students are mainstreamed. You can see that step-based literature in Gujarati subject and step-based literature in mathematics subject has been systematically prepared and made available. If you follow all the steps correctly and get the expected result, then this subject matter will be considered as properly used.
