Government employees in Gujarat have now taken to the streets in a frenzy, with various demands
In Gujarat, the government employees have come to a standstill over pending issues. Government employees staged rallies in several cities of Gujarat with the main demand of implementation of the old pension scheme. A zone level rally of the Gujarat State Employees’ Federation was held in Ahmedabad from the Income Tax Road to the Collector’s office. Government employees of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Botad, Aravalli districts joined the rally.
With the main demands of implementation of the old pension scheme, implementation of pay commission allowances in 7th, revision of grade pay, increase in pay of non-academic staff were demanded by the government employees.
The Gujarat State Employees’ Federation organized a rally in 7 zones today in Gujarat. In which more than 5 thousand government employees of 4 districts including Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Porbandar and Amreli joined the rally and the collector office gave the petition. A petition has been filed with the state government with various 15 demands. In which there is a demand to re-implement the old pension scheme. Not only that, but if the demand is not accepted, they have threatened to vote against the government soon.
In Ahmedabad, the Gujarat State Employees’ Union organized a rally from Income Tax four roads to the Collector’s office. The rally has been organized with demands including old pension scheme, 7th pay commission allowance, revision in grade pay, increase in salary of non-academic staff. Government employees of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Botad, Aravalli districts have joined the rally.
In Rajkot, a rally was organized from Racecourse Road to the Collector’s office, demanding the old pension scheme.
A protest was held in Vadodara by Gujarat State Employees’ Federation, Gujarat State United Front on various 15 demands. Maharalli was organized by the employees of the district panchayat. In which the employees of surrounding districts including Vadodara also joined. About 1 thousand employees joined the protest.
A rally of Gujarat State Employees Mahamandal was held in Mehsana. Employees of 72 government departments of Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha joined the Maharalli. Government employees gathered at Arvind Bagh in Mehsana, and organized a maharali from Arvind Bagh to the Collector’s office.
The Gujarat State Employees’ Front protested in Surat over pending issues including the old pension scheme. Teachers from Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Tapi, Bharut joined the protest held in Mandvi, Surat. The employees held a rally and submitted a complaint to the provincial authorities.
It is worth mentioning that even after meeting with the government 3 times, there is no solution, anger has been seen among the government employees across the state.
What is the main demand of teachers
Thus there are about 15 demands of the teachers for which the agitation is going on but the main one is regarding the re-implementation of the old pension scheme. It is to be noted that the government employees have agitated in many districts of the country regarding the old and new pension scheme and the old pension scheme has also been re-implemented in non-BJP ruled states. There is anger among government employees as the new pension scheme provides very little pension.
