Recruitment of part-time art/music teachers at Pay-Centres for teaching on honorarium
Ahmedabad: The state primary education director has announced that 3,559 music and drawing teachers will be recruited in government schools on honorarium basis for the next year across the state.
As many as 1,703 drawing teachers and 1,686 music teachers will be appointed by 33 district education committees while the 20 taluka education committees will appoint 85 drawing teachers and 85 music teachers.
The circular states the teachers will be paid Rs 50 per period and will be given a maximum of 6-8 periods every day. Circular states the monthly remuneration should not exceed Rs 9,000. The age criteria will be 18-38 years and qualification is visharad in drawing or music subjects.
These teachers will not be given any appointment letters and the candidate selection for the recruitment will be done entirely by the education committees.
These teachers will not get benefits of paid leaves.

Art and music teachers will now be recruited with honorarium in primary schools. Earlier teachers of physical education were also appointed in this way and now teachers of both these subjects have been added.

117 pay center schools have been selected in Bhavnagar district. Out of which 59 art teachers and 58 music teachers will be recruited on salary and six teachers will be recruited in 12 center schools in Bhavnagar city schools. A notification has been issued for the appointment of Art and Music teachers on emoluments for the period from 2023 to 31 3 2024. They will be specially appointed in pay center schools.
It may be mentioned here that for the last ten years very little work is being done in the subjects of drawing, music and physical education which are considered very important in primary schools. Now it has to be seen how the level of education rises after the recruitment of these teachers with honorarium.
It is planned to recruit Art and Music teachers on honorarium in primary schools of Bhavnagar and this recruitment will be considered valid till 31 March 2024. The teachers of both these subjects will be given an honorarium of Rs 50 per term.
